Work Smarter With Mobile Email

 

Easy-to-use, continuously updated email, calendar and contact lists to mobile devices is now available, at cost justifiable prices, thanks to the advent of the smart phone and supporting technology.

Mobile workers, whether management, sales representatives or field engineers can all benefit from the timely transfer of information, to coordinate activity and to respond to customer requirements.  The manager can schedule work, the sales rep. can liaise and close the deal and the field engineer can submit site visit details as and when required, not when they get back to the office.

How does it work? 

As per the diagram below, a Push Connector complete with hardware and software is installed to liaise between the existing Email Server and the smart mobile via a TelCo independent Relay Service.  The Push Connector ensures that the mobile, Email Server and office PC are all synchronised.  So no matter whether

you work on the mobile or the office PC, your email and calendar are kept up to date.  The smart mobile can use either the Symbian or MS Windows Mobile operating system;  the former benefits from economic use of bandwidth and does not incur MS licensing overheads.

The costs? 

The smart phone approach to mobile email costs £12/user/month plus setup and approximately £4/user/month for bandwidth usage.  This compares favourably with the Blackberry mobile email which generally costs £28/user/month plus setup, with some bandwidth usage generally included.

The other advantage of the smart phone approach is that you are not tied to any one TelCo and hence you can seek the most cost effective deal, changing TelCos if required.
